Abstract

A nasopalatine duct cyst (NPDC) is the most common non-odontogenic cyst of the oral cavity and occured in the median of the palate within the nasopalatine canal. A NPDC arises from embryologic remnants of nasopalatine duct owing to trauma of the maxilla, oral infection and spontaneous proliferation. Due to the clinical and radiologic resemblance to radicular cyst of anterior maxilla, it could be misdiagnosed as a radicular cyst of anterior teeth. In this article, we report 3 cases of NPDC which were misinterpreted as a radicular cyst, and describe the cause and differential diagnosis of NPDC.
